Film in wedding photography has been making a comeback, and it adds such a unique beauty to a wedding album. As a Los Angeles based wedding photographer, I’ve been loving this new spark of film in my work. There’s a nostalgia, imperfection, and timelessness to film that you just don’t get with a digital camera. You don’t get to see the results straight away, and you don’t edit the photos. The end result? Raw moments, captured as it happened, on perfectly imperfect film.
The photos below are film from a Wrensmoor Castle wedding in Los Angeles. This day was primarily shot on my digital cameras, but I took a handful of film shots for the couple as a little surprise at the bottom of their gallery. These were taken just before I added film to my package add ons, so it was just for fun to play around on a wedding day.
As a Los Angeles wedding photographer, I’ve found it so helpful to keep up my creativity by shooting on film. I use it in my personal life for fun memories, and I use it at weddings. It helps me to slow down and take photos with intention.
If you’re looking to add a classic twist to your wedding, ask your photographer if they shoot on film. I’m one of the many Los Angeles photographers who does, and I don’t foresee myself stopping soon!
