As a Santa Clarita based photographer, I LOVE having some go-to spots to shoot right at home. One of them is nestled in Placerita Canyon. I made a TikTok about this location a year ago, and it is my MOST requested location. In the Spring, it has the chance to be green and dreamy, and in the fall/summer there are golden/neutral tones to lean into. A lot of people hope for greenery all year round, but I wanted to showcase here what it looks like in November. In the summer/fall, there is lots of dry grass, which can look so good for fall photos, or even summer photos if you wear lighter colors.
I shot Sabrina and Jacob’s wedding last year in Simi Valley, and it was SO fun to do a fall couple’s shoot a few months later! I recommended Santa Clarita for their shoot, since it has the options for wide open spaces as well as oak trees. I’ve done engagements, bridals, and maternity shoots all within this area, and everything works here.
One of my main tips as a Santa Clarita photographer is to start a little earlier than you need to if you want golden hour. The hills in Santa Clarita will hide the sun faster, especially depending on the location. I like to start 2 hours before the projected sunset time if I am going to be at the oak tree location, and 1-1.5 hours before sunset time if I am going to be in the hills.
