Even though I’m based in Santa Clarita as wedding photographer, I end up at the beach a LOT for engagement photos. I shoot in Malibu often because of the variety Point Dome offers. Lately, I’ve been really embracing Ventura! I absolutely love being a photographer so close to Ventura. The pier is an excellent meeting spot, and one of my couples even got tacos and margaritas for their engagement photos!
Kendall and Zach had originally planned to do their shoot in Santa Clarita, but the weather wasn’t in our favor for the fields quite yet. We decided to photograph their engagement session in Ventura instead. Golden hour was absolutely magical; a photographer’s favorite time of day.
Within 24 hours, I just had to send these sneak peeks to Kendall and Zach. They did such a great job leaning into my prompts and poses so we could get them candids as well as classics. If you want a candid photographer for your engagement photos, find someone who incorporates movement but who doesn’t leave you without any direction at all. I’ve found in my time as a photographer that people usually need at least some kind of prompt, or else they’re left uncomfortable and unsure what to do.
